SOUTH BEACH DIET!
It works for PCOS. It's a hard one to stick to! Especially if you are like me! I'm italian & looveee my pastas! However, with PCOS carbs are the enemy! Cut them out at first ~ then slowly introduce WHEAT carbs back into your diet. White bread, white pasta, white CARBS are bad. Think about it like this. All breads and pastas start off as "wheat bread" and such. THEY BLEACH IT TO MAKE IT LOOK MORE APPEALING! Yuck! Would you drink bleach? No, because it will kill you.. WHY IS BLEACHING YOUR BREADS ANY BETTER FOR YOU? It's not. Sorry. & even buying wheat is tricky! You have to read the ingredients! If it says bleached ANYTHING put it back !! It is bad. It needs to say unbleached. ^ IGNORE THIS UNTIL YOU'VE BEEN CARB FREE FOR A MONTH! If you are PCOS carbs are your enemy! PROTEIN is your friend! I'm not saying an entire red meat diet ! That's not good . But eat more peanut (try natural, it's peanut that needs to be refridgerated and made by smuckers!) Also try sunflower seed kernels! They are delicious & high in protein! This is why it works. One: Your PCOS body doesn't know how to burn carbs, therefore it stores it. Around your belly & hips. That's why most woman are pear shaped & PCOS woman are apple shaped! Two: When you stop eating carbs, your body has to find another source for energy. It begins to burn fat. AROUND YOUR STOMACH & HIPS! You will lose weight. This paired with exercise will help you get to your goal weight!! Cardio would be best but a simple walk will do just fine! ~Questions? Just ask! =) Posted on 07/03/09, 06:07 pm |

I found it helpful to change my ways of eating by using a combination of methods that worked for me. I use the weight watchers points as a guideline, then limit carbs, sugars, and dairy. with lean meats, dairy free proteins, vegetarian alternatives (are very low carb) very limited healthy carbs. lots of green vegetables. Red berries. Healthy oils (olive, avocado) no butter. healthier alternatives to comfort foods.
You are very right how carbs effects our bodies differently. sometimes even the smallest carbs cause a weight jump. and worsening of the bloat that comes along with PCOS. Im unable to do the exercise aspect but I did lose alot of weight. I went from 210+ to about 130. I am 5' 1". Although recently my weight took a jump up to 144 without change in my eating habits. so I know something is going on but not what. something hormonal perhaps. Its a day to day effort rather than a diet. But its worth it. I think its great that you post this though its not necassrily a single diet. Ifound it extremely helpful to have the points guidelines of weight watchers along with the other changes. Also making sure to get enough fiber each day with supplementary fiber as low carb you need the added boost of fiber you dont get from foods. combination of Inulin, acacia fiber, and Psyllium is very good.

I go on the scarsdale diet. You think those diets are strict? Try scarsdale. Blandest of the blaaaaand. I feel like I've lost weight, but it isn't anything visible. I feel healthier too.
