Ways to ORGANICALLY fight Depression

I have been depressed since I hit puberty! I had no idea why! Anti-depressants did not help. Guess why!? Because my depression was not neurological ~ which is what anti-depressants are proved for!! My depression was HORMONAL!

I do not like to take medicine. I barely take tylenol. I'm afraid of what the effects will be in twenty years. I'd rather have a headache today, rather than liver failure tomorrow!

Ok. So over time I have learned tricks to battle depression. & I promise they will work!*

What's is the first thing you want to do when you get really depressed? Turn off all the lights & just lay in the dark. DONT! Open up your blinds! If it's nice enough OPEN UP THE WINDOWS! It's very hard to be depressed with beautiful sunshine all around you! & a summer breeze to top that off! Amazing results!

Why do we play sad music when we are depressed. We are just giving the depression what it wants! Turn on music, BUT! Find your favorite CD, flip to your FAVORITE song! THIS HAS TO BE AN UP BEAT SONG! If it is connected to a happy memory, even better! I'm talking about a song that you use to sing with friends!

Once you get your mood slightly lifted... Take a walk! A scenic walk would be best. Take in the sights. Look at the clouds! Take it all in. If you have a dog, take him/her! Animals are a great way to forget your troubles.
Animals don't care if you have a few extra hairs on your chin OR if you gained a few pounds.. They still love you.

If you can't get out and walk .. do SOMETHING, ANYTHING!! Sitting will make you MORE and MORE depressed! Sitting and being a bump on a log is your enemy!

If you have questions for me ask! I will be happy to answer them with my personal experiences!

*I am not a doctor. This is NOT medical advice. I am a girl who is afraid of medicines with a lot of experience with depression.

" No definitely not a waste of time I love reading things like this and seeing what works for others. I don't like being prescribed meds either so I've just changed my whole diet and exercise and habits trying to get my hormones to be ok on their own. I totally agree with these because the best thing for anyone to do while depressed is become active somehow. "

" I know you posted this a few days ago but wanted to let you know that you did not waste your time... I tried anti-depression meds too and they never worked. It was all before I found out I have PCOS... You are completly right with the music. It really works!! for all the years I have battled depression Music has been the only thing to help. Now if I can just make myself get active. I bought a trampoline but keep making excuses not to jump...Thanks, and keep writing it's good advise!!! "
