I've been so depressed about the weight I have gained that it is affecting my day-to-day life - I've be avoiding people, events and things that I normally would love to do. I've been going to the gym and am trying to lose weight and control it with what I am eating but it's totally got me down. So today at the store, the elderly lady who checked me out wouldn't let me carry my purchases because she thought I was pregnant. I cried all the way driving home.....I don't know what to say when people keep asking me when I'm due or how far along am I? It really hurts my feelings and is making me even more depressed.

Thank you both for your support. I think it just makes me even more emotional as I have been trying to get pregnant for the last two and a half years - so it sort of feels like a slap in the face on top of everything else.

I understand where you are coming from. I have gained all my weight in my stomach, and with PCOS its so hard to lose, and to tell the truth I haven't really tried that hard. I get that Question at least once a week. It is very depressing among other things. I too, want to have a child.. But have never had a period and I am 20 years old. Don't let it get you down, girl. Just hold your head up high and remind yourself that they don't know the half of your battle.

I'm so sorry you had to go through that! I've actually always been amazed how comfortable people have always felt asking me if I'm pregnant or commenting on my pregnant stomach when I wasn't pregnant at all! You know what, i started going along with it when/if it would get me special treatment (i.e. airplanes and stuff), i know that's terible but I figure I should get SOMETHING out of such an emberrasing situation. Anyway, you can't let other people's ignorance bring you down! I know it's hard, especially while dealing with the emotions of TTC, but know that we're here for you when you need to vent.
Take care of yourself.

A girl that I used to work would make comments all of the time that I was pregnant because of how bloated I was. To make it worse, she has PCOS herself and was so insensitive about my situation. She would make those comments out loud in front of everyone! I despised her so much that I quit my job. I have a better job now. That led to less stress which meant weight loss and my husband and I finally conceived 5 weeks ago. She is still at the old job making others miserable, had to have surgery to lose the weight, and still has not been able to conceive. She is a very unhappy person, even though she won't admit it. I hope that this doesn't make me sound like a bad person, but Karma will eventually catch up to you.
Hold your head high; at least she didn't "pet" your belly!

I went from a skinny mini little popular cheerleader type in highschool to gaining over 150lbs after having my first child due to having PCOS. That was about 5 years ago and I cant loose it. I just keep gaining, the depression is making me gain more I believe. My OB told me to try weight watchers, because that actually helps people with pcos. I was working at a bank as a teller and we had a bank in a walmart. We had these tall chairs we sat on and I used the foot rest to stand up and scooch myself back and the guy in the next teller line says "woah, youre about to pop" I said "what?" and he realized that I am just fat and said, "Oh I was asking for a drink of your pop" I told him it was ok. That really put me into a spiral of depression, but what you need to understand is that we may have been given this problem, but we can get over it. It is NOT a terminal illness. We are stronger than this, we woman are stronger than PCOS. There is a success story in all of us. Look at my hubby and I, we didnt start having problems until after our first child (which I quess is not uncommon) we lost a baby, took us 2 years to concieve again, but we now have 3 beautiful happy and healthy boys. Just keep your head up, keep making the good choices you are making about diet and exercise and just know that it is ok to be beautiful in your own skin and to love who you are!
