I hear you on this issue! I hate it!!! I think this is the worst symptom of PCOS...even more than the weight issue. I feel like I am constantly plucking. I use the hair removal cream about once a month to get the light hairs I can't see but otherwise I pluck away. I feel like everyone can see my "beard." I know that also when you are TTC you really can't do much other than pluck/wax. So it looks like we are in the same boat and we really can't do much more...BLAH! Hang in there.

I have the same problem, it seems like every couple of days I got a mirror and tweezers in hand. It is very frustrating. I want to try a home electrolysis kit, but they are pretty pricey and then facing the fact they may not work is a pretty hard pill to swallow. I have been told there are creams that your Dr. can prescribe, however they are pricey as well and you face insurance issues, about whether they will cover it or not. I remember when my Dr. prescribed me something (I cannot even remember the name of it now) it was like $170.00 a 6oz tube and my insurance wouldn't touch it. I feel you to no end about the embarrasment of the facial hair, I feel like everyone can see it, even though no one really says anything. Not to mention I am embarrased to kiss my significant other because of all the hair. I don't want him to feel like he's kissing another man! My MD also told me there is a blood pressure med that slows hair growth as well, also cannot remember the name of it, but I never tried it because he told me it might be kind of risky due to I already have low blood pressure. Hope things get better for you though.

I'm 30 years old and have been shaving for 12 years. The cream removers irritated my skin so badly that I had to quit. I have finally found a decent priced place to have laser hair removal. I tried it about 4 years ago. It was painful but the next 4 weeks were amazing! I too feel like everyone notices. I'm sorry that you are having a hard time with this. Just know that I feel your pain. Goodluck.

ugh. I'm the same way! I have the mans happy trail and on my lip. really i have it everywhere. it's so embarrassing everytime i get a new tattoo cuz the guy has to shave me like i were a man. then i kinda want to run out of the place crying, but i just laugh it off. I wish there were some way to get ride of it forever! I'm trying laser hair removal for noticable areas like my lip, but i'm afraid it wont be a lasting fix....

I'm new to this support group today. I just saw your pictures and I don't see a thing:) Like me you concealed it pretty well. I feel you in every sense of the word! I had extreme hair growth on my chin, cheeks, upper lip and side burn. I plucked them all out every single morning. More so the ones on my chin. It was a daily depressing task that took so long:( And this is just the facial area...the rest of the areas that I have to carefully groom go untreated because they are not as visible as the face. I have since started getting laser hair removal. I learned from them that plucking only serves to stimulate new hair growth so please stop plucking. I found it very hard to stop but had no choice as laser only works on existing hair folicles...if you pluck then it doesn't work. So I now shave everyday. YES I had the most horrific feeling the first time I did it but since my laser therapy it has gotten soooo much better. No more ingrown hairs which plucking would cause. Luckily I never suffered the symptom of acne but when I had ingrown hairs it looked like I had some. Now, I'm about half way through my sessions and you cant even tell as much as before. If no one can afford laser treatments then my advice would be to still shave as opposed to plucking. It will take about a few weeks to get used to it and acquire a smoother shave once you've done it. Because I had so many ingrown hairs from plucking I was afraid I'd cut myself all over my chin but slowly and surely the smoothness from not plucking paved way and now it's the best thing I could have ever done. It's a process and one I don't wish on anyone...but we have to do the best we can with what we have:(

Sadly, I have been hit with the hair stick twice. I am half Iranian, and have PCOS. Great - so I am as hairy as a dude. Arms, legs, stomach, face neck and chin. It is so much fun to constantly shave, wax and tweeze! I did find a great little device called the E-PEN. It does work , but it is time consuming- it takes several spread out applications for each area. You have to let the hair be in it's growth cycle for each course of treatment - which means letting it all hang out so to speak! It is a home electolosis kit, thar works either with pads or a q-tip applicator and gel. It is surprising hard to find. I have used it several times on one side of my neck, and I am quite pleased to only get a handful of strays there now. The other side still takes forever to weed through. I am going to continue using it, in the hopes that I can at least get the jungle thinned out enough that there is no danger of small children getting lost in it!

Yeah, this is the worst symptom of all. Its the main reason I'm so antisocial and I won't put my hair up (hide my sideburns), I feel like when I talk to someone in public or up front, they're just looking at the hair on my face.
I'll never shave, unfortunately I pluck and I got a lot of in-grown hairs =/ I only consider waxing, as I can't afford any professional treatments such as laser, and I doubt my insurance would support any meds specifically for it. I'm kind of hoping that meds for PCOS along with a diet would help with that. Because we got hirsutism for a reason, it can't be because thats how we just are.. my doctor says its because I have higher levels of testosterone.
