I was just told that our medicine could run us upwards of $3000, none of which my insurance company covers, has anyone had the shots with Metformin... I'm doing IUI, if my tubes arent blocked because insurance doesn't cover IVF... It's so frustrating that in order to have a child it cost so much! Did I mention insurance will only cover $2000 lifetime max for IUI... I need another job! Here's the kicker, I work for my insurance company!!!!!!!

I did eventually get pregnant using Metformin,shots and IUI. I think it's ridiculous that insurance companies don't pay for assisted reproductive technology. I wish there was something we could do to fight it. It just adds to the stress of not being able to conceive.

I just hope this works and I wont have to go further. I think I'm going to take Chaste tree too... It says it doesn't affect the drugs and I prefer herbs anyway...

What kills me is your insurance co like many others won't cover IVF or IUI BUT they will cover a high order multiple gestation, delivery, NICU, and all other expenses related to those risk factors of IUI. What they fail to realize is that when you pay out of pocket for these procedures is that your acceptable risk is higher than if they were covering the procedures.

I understand your frustration...Im in the same boat...My Ob-Gyn told me yesterday there isnt anything else he can do for me and wants to send me to a specialist, which my insurance company wont cover. My hopes of getting pregnant are gone because I cant afford out of pocket expenses...Sad thing is I work for a hospital....youd think Id have awsome insurance coverage. It sucks...and im Sorry

Many of the meds not only help with getting preg but also other issues many of us deal with. Another sad fact is that in my state, medicaid will pay for all sorts of adults who are too lazy to work and go to the doc for every sniffle but not help those hard working families caught in the middle. Those who make too much for services but not enough to provide their own insurance and the likewise. Also, the fed gov. provides ssi benefits for people what eat themselves to morbidity, people who drink themselves into oblivion, and those who destroy themselves with drugs. So where is our help? BTW when metformin is put through my insur. I pay more than the cash price at walmarts pharm.
