PCOS causing me to lose my hair:(

Hello, I have recently been diagnosed with PCOS at 29. I am very confused as I am not insulin resistant and keep losing weight. The only reason I got tested was I wasn't getting my period on time when I went off of Yasmin. Then I noticed chin hair along with a super greasy scalp which was never a problem before..after that I noticed that my hair was getting thinner and thinner...this hit me the hardest. It made me so depressed that I barely left the house for a year. I even attempted suicide not wanting to live my life as a bald women as stupid as that may sound.
Recently I got extensions which really help me deal with the hair loss but I know the top is thinning and I can't hide that with the extensions at all. Its very upsetting to me. I have been back on Yasmin for two years, I have tried sprinolactone which did nothing for me. All yasmin does is just keep my period regular. All I want is my hair back. I can wax the body hair off and I eat the right foods but it seems nothing will help my hair loss. I can't take feeling so insecure much longer... Posted on 04/06/12, 07:21 pm |

http://www.ae-society.org/female-ha... I have listed here two links from the website of the Androgen Excess PCOS Society. They are a professional organization of physicians and scientists who are specialists in PCOS. The information you will find on their website is scientifically based and can be very helpful and educational. Make the effort to watch all three of the videos. This will give you REAL information. If you are losing hair, don't waste time, go to a doctor who IS REALLY FAMILIAR WITH PCOS. MOST GENERAL GYNECOLOGISTS AND DERMATOLOGISTS ARE NOT REALLY HIGHLY EXPERIENCED AT THIS. IF YOU CAN SEE A REPRODUCTIVE GYNECOLOGIST OR REPRODUCTIVE ENDOCRINOLOGIST, THAT IS THE BEST. GOOD LUCK, it has been a difficult challenge for me personally, but you can get through it. You are not defined by your hair. You will make it.
