I am a 30 yo woman who has 2 children (1 stillbirth (daughter)at 20 weeks and 1 one 4yo son). I have had problems since I started my cycle at age 11. Things have progressively gotten worse and wontinue to get worse. My GYN at this time had mentioned PCOS to me and did an ultrasound and laparoscopy that did find cysts on my ovaries....but did not ask about any of the other symptoms....and did not dianose me with PCOS. Through my own research, I have found that I have around 12 of the 15 most common symptoms of PCOS. I have been dealing with this for so long and have not been able to find any answers. I feel like I am beating my head against a brick wall. I just don't know what to do...my husband is great--very supportive, but obviously doesn't know what this is like and I feel like I am totally alone in this.

" Sorry that you are going through this. The first thing I have to say, is you really need to get all your blood levels checked out. A full hormonse work-up, insulin, blood sugar etc. They is another sign to tell if it is in fact PCOS. I had to push my doctors to do this, it is very expensive - so if you have insurance absolutely, if not, think about it and look into how much this may cost.

If your current OB/GYN is not willing to do this, I honestly recommend seeing a new or even going to see an Endocrinologist who specializes in this or a Reproductive Endocrinologist if you are looking to have more kids.

If they are able to determine that you do in fact have PCOS after these tests, they will probably put you on Metformin to help and depending on your cycle and how often they occur potentially something else.

I am currently trying to conceive and seeing a Reproductive Endocrinologist - I tried IUI (intrauterine Insemmination) twice with no luck. I am in the process of IVF. Had 1 polyp removed and then my egg retrieved, as well as implanted back a week ago. Wednesday will be the pregnancy test to see if it took - we are praying.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask, as well as add me as a friend and send me private emails if you would like. Sometime just talking and understanding it all really does help.

God Bless you and smile! ;) "
