I have already had a child. The doc told me that they didn't want me pregnant after I was 35 and I will be that age this year. And I was wondering if a hysterecomy would help with the PCOS.

" I asked my ob the same question and she said no u do not want to do a hysterectomy at your age unless u absolutely have to at your age (I am 35 too). She said that u are looking at a whole other set of problems by doing that. She said that your bones start to become brittle and u can develop osteoperosis... and that was just one of many issues. I recently saw an endocrinologist for my pcos in addition to my obgyn and she put me on Byetta which I have noticed a difference in how I feel finally after 10 yrs. I am only in my 2nd month with byetta and have noticed some weightloss.

Hope your able to find my advice helpful! "

" If you want to not have a functional womb, please consider Novasure. I had the procedure several years ago, and I feel great! It's an endometrial ablation performed by a robot using electricity, and is minimally invasive, and leaves your ovaries intact. I did it because of menorrhagia (excessive bleeding) which I had had all my life since the age of 12. I had to give up my dream of eventually having children in order to have the surgery and become healthy, and despite occasional bouts of despair over that lost dream, I'm glad I did it. Post NovaSure was the first time in my life I was able to work a full time job-- and that was in my 30s, and I've never been married so not working was a terrible hardship. "
