My doctor put me on Provara and Metformin. Me and my husband lost a child then found out i had PCOS. I seen on TLC that this lady took it for 6 months and had a baby. Well has anyone else had any luck yet? I've been on it for almost 3 weeks now and i've been noticing the weight has been going down and the acne is starting to go away but i just need to know is this pill is really good all i want is to at least have one more baby. After losing my baby in 2007 that was my dream was to raise my own child. Me and my husband are crossing our fingers that by March 2010 that i will be pregnant. I only met 2 people in my home town that have pcos and one had a child but not with the help of Metformin she just had her. So if someone can please keep my hopes up that Metformin will really help me if someone can please reply that you are pregnant with the help of this pill.

" Hi AARandles I am going to give you good news. I was giving Metformin to help me get pregnant and I took it for a couple of months and got pregnant. And she is 3 years old now. There is something else you might want to try. See if your doc will inject your uterus with die to see if your tubes are closed and they say that helps to. "

" I have been on metformin since January..I was not trying to get pregnant, just wanted to control the symptoms of PCOS..I went to the doc yesterday and found out I am 2 months pregnant, so yes, it is very possible..I also was taking magnesium and folic acid for other health issues..think that had something to do with me getting pregnant also. Please be patient and good luck! "

" I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 19yrs old. My Gynocologist, a man with over 45yrs experience made it clear that I was not to take birth control pills as this causes more trouble than good. My period was quite irregular and this was a source of concern for me.. Ironically he put me on Clomid to regulate my cycle and a few years later when I beacame sexually active I became pregnant! I have had 2 miscarriages and I have sucessfully given birth to 2 daughters.. So I do think that it is indeed possible to have PCOS and be able to have children... The clomid is great.. I didn't have any noticeable side effects.. As opposed to the birth control pill that had me nutty as hell... "

" Hi, Good luck with metformin and sorry to hear about the loss of your baby. I have been on metformin for almost 3 years and still not pregnant. I have heard many people who do get pregnant just by the use of it but I havent been one of those lucky ones. Unfortunately everyone is different and therefore they respond to medicines in different ways. You just have to be patient. Don't stress because this can increase your infertility. "

" I take 1000mg twice a day and for the past 2 years I have had periods approximately 9/12 months a year. This is a huge increase and although I am not trying to get pregnant (just got an IUD actually) I believe that such an increase while on the 2000/day would significantly improve my chances when i am ready!!! Good luck! "

" I swear by the stuff.... I've tried different things over the last 10 years and in Feb 2008 I was started on 1000 mg of Metformin and that did nothing for me. It didn't bring on my cycle and I didn't loose any weight. I took that until July and then I went to an RE in July 2008 and he doubled my dose to 2000 mg. I started loosing weight, I got my cycle in Aug and again in Sept and I was pregnant by Oct. She was born in June 2009. The Metformin cause some side effects but they are WELL worth it. Now when I try to get pregnant in a year or so I will start right out on 2000 mgs. There is hope... oh and they will keep you on the Metformin for either the 1st 13 wks or for the whole pregnancy depending on your doctor. GOOD LUCK AND IT WILL HAPPEN!!!! "
