I have just read a good couple article on pain written by Helen and Ruth, they are under the "advise" column, a question posed my Emilypkd.
It would be worth reading for anyone in pain with pkd. Anything that anyone has to say concerning the pain is always great. good luck! Posted on 11/04/09, 04:11 pm |

Thanks Norma! We try to provide what infomraiton we can from personal experience. I dont' wish pain upon anyone; this disease already takes enough out of us. But a good relationship with our doctors, doing our part to fulfill our part of the relationship by maintaining a pain diary and educating our doctors in a coorperative manner about the true incidence of pain and PKD and a positive, cooperative and open relatiionship goes a long way towards getting the pain management we truly need. while it would be nice to have no pain or discomfort whatsoever, it's simply unrealistic and we each need to determine what level of pain and discomfort we are willing to deal with on a daily basis and work with our medical providers to develop a pain management regimen, using all modalities, to get us to the point where we can live our lives to the fullest extent possible.
Thanks for your support; it means a lot to me. Ruth
