A friend of mine today said that drinking tea is bad when you have PKD. Has anyone else heard this and is it true? And what is bad about it?

The only thing I can think of is that a lot of tea contains caffeine, which is bad. Caffeine has been implicated in cyst formation, so it makes sense to avoid it. Tea contains less than coffee and coke, though. I don't know of any other bad ingredients in tea, so it should be fine if you drink the caffeine free varieties. I don't like the usual tea or coffee, but drink fruit tea. It's not everyone's "cup of tea", I know, but I like rosehip. I hope you can find something you like.

Hey, Nikki and Deric,
Ah, a cup of tea. It is nirvana. Let them say what they will, it's good for me. Have you tried real tea? Lipton is just floor sweepings, dust is all. Try whole leaf tea from specialteas.com and taste real tea. It's no more expensive per cup than Lipton. I know I sound like a commercial but the way I see it, life isn't worth living if we give up what we love. We won't live forever. It will just seem that way.
