For all the PKD people with pain, heating pads are a godsent. I burn up about 2 heating pads a year, the good ones with 5 and 10 year warranties!! LOL!! Its a big joke in my family, I have a heating pad in my car, at all my friends house's that I would ever sleep over at, my mom's, my dad's, my aunt's and I have 4 in my house. No joke! Heat on Polycysic kidneys is better than vicodin. I am sure you all know this already but just in case someone doesnt, i want to pass on the tip. You may want to talk to your kidney doctor first, I am not a doctor, and you may have other health reason that would make it a bad idea for you persoally. But totally check because its so worth it :) Take care and talk to me sometime.

Heat is very good on polycystic kidneys I AGREE !!! I take about 4 showers a day Really HOT ones and use heating pads but recently starting using these bags filled with flax seed that you microwave till really hot and there huge so they cover my whole flank area and back and stays hot thru the night which does help but still just a temp. fix

Heat on kidneys is a pain releiver and it reduces nightime urination, but be careful. There are horror stories about misused heating pads and bean bags that you microwave.

Never thought of the heating pad, but it does help. I've been sitting in the hottub and taking hot showers. Now with the use of the heating pad I don't feel so water logged.
