1 yr old with pneumonia

My 1 yr. old son has had pneumonia for about 3 months now. He has been on 3 different antibotics. The 3rd time I demanded something else to go along with the antibotics. They finally put him on steriods so we will see if it worked. My problem is they say it does no good to do another x-ray until 4 or 5 weeks after he has pneumonia because the x-ray will not show clear. Well he never makes it that long and his fever spikes again. So, what makes no sense to me is that if the xray isn't going to show clear before 4 or 5 weeks after and it's been only 2 weeks and they do another xray, well then how can they tell.
In the meantime he's keeping a cold and has had an ear infection. My main concern is he is in daycare! And if he's body is constantly trying to fight off pneumonia his immune system is down and he may very well pick up something worse from daycare! He hasn't been in the hospital at all and I told them that if this continues it might be a good idea.
I'm completely lost and don't know what to do. He sleeps with a humidifier in his room and he gets breathing treatments 4 times a day. Any suggestions on what to tell the dr. cause they tell me they will do anything I want them to do. I tell them I want them to get my child well and do what they would do with their own kid. I'm so aggravated and worried!

" Who told you that an X-Ray is pointless for 4-5 weeks? Improvement can be seen with in a few days. Some things to try would be to allow your child to rest. The human body does amazing things when it is allowed to, for lack of a better term, fix itself. I know that this is scary, especially seeing all of the information on the horrible effects of pneumonia, but as hard as this may be to hear, you must be patient. Of course, putting your sick child into daycare where there are so many other sick and naturally unclean (and I mean that in no way maliciously) children, your child will be so very susceptible to every and any germ out there. My honest advice is to continue the treatment, and perhaps have your child worked up for any other type of infection. Make sure that the doctor's laboratory did a culture and a gram stain. There are MANY different microorganisms that can cause pneumonia, make sure that your child is being treated for the right one. "
