I realize that loss of appetite and weight loss are symptoms of pleurisy. A side effect of the antibiotic I was on was loss of appetite as well. I'm 6'4" and weighed 260 just two weeks ago. I now weigh 242 and have no appetite. When I do eat I get nauseous and my food just doesn't seem to want to digest. Has anyone else experienced rapid weight loss and the symptoms I've described during pleurisy??? This situation is pretty unnerving and is stressing me out.

vic talk to your doctor you may have another problem along with the pluerisy like stomach problems.

I asked my doctor if this much weight loss was normal for pleurisy and he said yes. He referred me to a gastro doctor but I the earliest possible appointment isn't until the end of january. If i cannot start eating regularly by the end of the week, it is now monday, then maybe I'll visit the ER and perhaps they can give me a upper and lower GI.

I lost well over 30 lbs during my 1st acute attack of pleurisy. 2 + years later I have gained about 10 of it back. From my experience, and from other doctors' evaluations, this is normal for pleurisy.
