Hard sometimes emotionally to read but really hits home for those who have ever been emotionally, verbally, or phyically abused. It was suggessted to me by a program we have in MA called HAWK for abused women.

" This is the BEST book I have ever read on the topic. His recommendations to the court system should be followed regarding angry men having access to their children, as in not so good for the kids either. He works with abusive men - he know what he is talking about. "

" Lundy Bancroft is very well thought of in all sorts of cirles. He is balanced, accurate and somehow kind. People in abusive situations need this book. I think I'll go read it again after your reminder. Thanks. "

" I'm reading this book right now, I'm ½ way through it. This helped to open my eyes and realize that he won't change. It's also opening my eyes to how he sees things. I wish I had known about this book six years ago (although I don't think it was published then). "

" This book and this man changed my life. Isn't it the question we all ask ourselves?

Lundy Bancroft does workshops for abuse victims now, with peer-to-peer counseling. "

" This book educated me to the effects of emotional abuse, not just myself but my kids and family too. Lundy Bancroft was spot on with all sorts stuff that happened throughout the 8 yrs i was with him, to me it was a sort of long counselling session, painful to read at times in certain parts it set off triggers of personal stuff that had happened, i'd fill up with tears and have to put it away, however when i'd feel stronger to continue reading i would get an explanation which in a strange way helped ease the pain and it was as if it had all been taken away from inside me, it was like a great big sigh of relief, validation.

This would be my best book recommendation. "

" It was so true and alive I thought he was in my living room when he wrote it. I was told by my Church I needed to go back to him....even though they saw what was going on. I refused to speak about the subject again until they read this book. I have since left and let him go to Church there. They can bless the next woman with the knowledge they will gain from this book. It is so real it hurt to read it and let it soak in that I really was being abused. "

" I am so grateful to have found this book. It confirmed what I had always thought. It supported my decisions, and shed light on behavior that I had no idea was toxic. I thank you it for being a big part of my recovery. "
