::hugs:: I am sorry to hear about your phobia and recent experience. I hope you are doing better now! I understand how hard it is to calm down when your face to face with your phobia.

I'm so sorry...I know how your heart pounds and your chest hurts and the pain radiates from it....Happens to me everytime the phone rings, along with other things including spiders
Don't beat yourself up...you feel what you feel. You do need to try to get your room aired out though....I hope you day gets better..I'll be around if you want to talk

I did that with a centipede in my basement once....I don't think I ever found where it dropped too......Turn on some fans right now and try to focus on getting the air clean again :( worry about the monsterbug later :(((

thank you all for your kind posts...only people with some of these phobias would understand the intensity of these fears...so glad your all here..unquiet: your kitty is so cute

I do the same thing with a can of air freshener it makes them fall down and it's a neurotoxin so they can't move. I have to pick up the spider carcass with a huge wad of toliet paper. I will not sleep if there is one in my room until it's dead. Spiders are nasty and creepy looking.

i'll try the air freshener next time...might not be so toxic for me...they're always up high so i don't want to try and hit it cause it might fall on me so i have to kill it first. thanks for the suggestion

My mom is scared of spiders. Has been for many years. She always needed my help and comforting. Spiders are a terrifying thing to encounter. I too have a phobia. I am scared to death of mice. I have been since I was a child. The only thing that helped my mother was trying to find something good about them. My grandfather owned a small salvage business and on his yard was an old car. The car contained a gorgeous spider. It was referred to as a writing spider. It would make beautiful webs and never bothered anyone. After looking at him several times she realized that she liked the detail of work the little fella did. She is still deathly afraid, but it did help her a little.

holly...i tried the air freshener thing today...realy worked and i didn't have to air the place out ...thanks
