Blood Drive

Hey, i was wondering is it Ok for PKU patients to give blood? Does your level have to be at a certain number? I've tried to give blood only once and the i asked the nurse about it, but she didn't even know what PKU was, my "count" was low so i couldn't give blood that day and never have. There is a blood drive going on to help some friends of mine with hospital costs and i was wanting to help them out, but was still unsure if it was ok to give blood or not. Anyone have any input?
