my friend's cat, max, died recently after years of health problems. i would like to comfort her but can't seem to find the words.
does anyone know of a good sentiment, poem, prayer, etc. for a deceased but very beloved kitty? personally i am comforted by the fact that he lived a fairly long life in a safe, loving home, unlike the plight of most cats. on the other hand, i know that my friend is probably too distraught to be consoled by objective observations. what would you say? I have found this one very comforting. Someone sent it to me when Miss Pink died.
To Those I Love If I should ever leave you whom I love To go along the Silent Way, grieve not, Nor speak of me with tears, but laugh and talk of me as if I were beside you there. (I'd come-I'd come, could I but find a way! But would not tears and grief be barriers?) And when you hear a song or see a bird I loved, please do not let the thought of me be sad... For I am loving you just as I always have... You were so good to me! There are so many things I wanted still to do— so many things to say to you... Remember that I did not fear— It was just leaving you that was so hard to face... We cannot see Beyond... But this I know: I loved you so— 'twas heaven here with you! ~Isla Paschal Richardson

This was another one someone sent to me.
God Asked the Feline Spirit And God asked the feline spirit "Are you ready to come home?" "Oh, yes, quite so," replied the precious soul. "And as a cat, you know I am most able To decide anything for myself." "Are you coming then?" asked God "Soon," replied the whiskered angel. "But I must come slowly My human friends are troubled For You see, they need me, quite certainly." "But don't they understand?" asked God, "That you will never leave them? That your souls are intertwined, for all eternity, That nothing is created or destroyed, It just is... forever and ever and ever?" "Eventually they will understand," replied the cat, "For I will whisper in their hearts - that I am always with them I just am... forever and ever and ever." — Author Unknown

Here is a nice poem....
Weep not for me though I am gone, Into that gentle night. Grieve if you will, but not for long, Upon my soul's sweet flight. I am at peace, my soul's at rest, There is no need for tears. For with your love I was so blessed For all those many years. There is no pain, I suffer not, The fear now all is gone. Put now these things out of your thoughts, In your memory I live on. Remember not my fight for breath, Remember not the strife, Please do not dwell upon my death, But celebrate my life.
