The First FDA Approved Canine Cancer Drug

For those of you who haven't heard, the FDA has approved the first canine cancer drug developed to specifically treat cancer in dogs.

"Palladia" is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor given orally to dogs that suffer from (skin based) mass cell tumors. It works by killing tumor cells and by cutting off the blood supple to the tumor.

This is a huge step in the development of future cancer fighting drugs for all animals.
