" I found Effexor to be a very smooth antidepressant when taking it, with little side effect except slight delay in ejaculation. However, coming off it was an utter nightmare - look up brain shivers in Google - it took three months for the discontinuation symptoms of vertigo and nausea and general malaise to settle completely, though gradually decreased over that time. I suggest to come off it, you ask to switch to Prozac as this takes the longest to get out of the system (and the longest to get in...) "

" SSRIs don't agree with me at all. But Risperdal was wonderful. It did make tired but that got better. The weight gain was an issue, but it's nowhere near as bad as other antipsychotics. I'm thinking of going back on it. I don't have straight up psychosis or mania, but it helps my rage and it clears my thoughts, organizes them, and makes my head quiet. "

" Effexor started out ok, but then the depression came back and continued to get worse. All I thought about was killing myself. I have most of my scar's from when I was on Effexor. They kept me on it because they assumed it would help with the depression and even uped it.
Coming off of it was a living hell. I didn't think the madness would ever stop.
But the whole problem with the equation is that I'm bi-polar. BP's do not do well with anti-depressants. "
