so i've just recently been diagnosed with borderline personality disorder.. it doesn't surprise me i've kinda always known i have it.. any advice on how to cope with disassociation? sometimes i feel like i'm slowly losing my grip on reality and it scares me because i have the urge to cut off everyone and be completely anti-social and hurt myself really badly because i get tired of being me sometimes.. i want to hurt people too so they can feel the pain that i'm feeling but that's not fair so i distance myself from people.. i usually cope with this by doing drugs because it hurts me and everyone around me hit 2 birds with one stone but i've just been diagnosed with hepatitis c and my health at the moment does not permit me to get wasted.. i dunno what to do i feel helpless.. any advice?

I am chronically depersonalized..... I haven't had a "real" day in many years. Some days are qworse than others. When it becomes unbearable I have an exercise that does help.
See five colors, hear five sounds, smell 5 smells, touch five textures, taste five foods. You have to do it slowly and with intent. Take your time and really FEEL each thing while reconnecting yourself to reality. It is something like the mindfulness techniques that DBT teaches but I don't remember where I learned it. It does help a lot.

Wow! sounds like you are going through alot. Hang in there! I know what you are saying, when you say that you feel that you need to distance yourself, from people. That is our first reaction, but friends are so important to our recovery. Search people out that can understand you. Being on this site, is a great move. We are here for each other.

Welcome here. I can relate to your story. You will find people who can truly understand you, although it's hard to do so. Keep posting and readings posts, it helps us to connect. Just be careful to avoid triggers if it's dangerous for you. Also, please get counselling and help! You'll need it all.
