Hey,

Does anyone out there have any info regarding the bacteria H. Pylori? I recently went to the doctor thinking I had symptoms of GERD (burning, gnawing feeling in my stomach) and I was told (after a blood test) that i have the H. Pylori bacteria in my stomach. The doc proceeded to tell me that it is a main factor in getting stomach cancer. I have been scared to death since then, and sought out another opinion. I was told by the new doctor that the bacteria H Pylori is fairly common in the US, and is the main factor in developing an ulcers and if left untreated, cancer can develop. I am suppose to have an endoscopy on monday, jan 28th to determine whether i have an ulcer or not.
Can someone please tell me how long they had stomach pain before they were diagnosed with an ulcer?? Thanks

" Pain is a sign something is wrong. You need to take ggressive action immediately. If you wre diagnosed with the H. Pylori bacteria, you need to take the triple antibiotics asap. Some insurance programs are hesitant to give the prescritions out as the drugs are very expensive so you may need to push the point with them and your docotr. Untreated H. Pylori will lead to bad things as you have been told. We have found that the effectiveness of the treatment improves with a high anti-oxidant diet. That means lots of ruits and veggies in a wide variety. If you cannot tolerate fruits and veggies in substantial quantities, drink juices with super levels of anti-oxidants in them. Pomegranite blueberry juice is the most readily available in the market here in the US. Try either MonaVie or Xango which are both made from super anti-oxidant fruits (10-15 times the anti-oxidant level of regular juices)that will be more tolerable on your stomach. If you can't find a distributor for those products as they are not sold in retail markets, write me back and I will tell you where you can get them. "

" Lcullianne,

Thank you so much for the info. If you have any other information that would be helpful, please let me know. As a matter of fact, I've read that h pylori has been found in dental plaque and is one of the reasons people are reinfected with the bacteria. Do you know anything about this and what % of people are reinfected b/c of dental plaque?? "

" I tested positive for the h. pylori. I was givin the prev pak. I took this and my h.pylori still was not gone so I had to do a second treatment and now it is gone. However, the bacteria had already done it's damage and I have an ulcer which is being treated with protonix. The burning in my stomach is getting old fast. I'm ready to feel better. "
