I take 10 mgs of Requip XL once a day and while it's not perfect i find it allows me to function fairly normal with a minimum of side effects. My problem is that United Health Care has decided not to cover this drug and suggests I take a generic form of regular Requip which require taking 5 times a day and causes me serious nausea and vomiting. The Requip XL costs 350.00 per month which puts a serious crimp in my finances. My Neuro wrote a letter to United but to no avail. Is there anyone having similar problems?/ Billy

" Hi Gbs29,
I have had that problem also.About 2 years ago I was taking Comtan twice a day and mid summer entered the Gap and had to stop taking it and it was helping me a lot. I could get no help from anyone, even with my Doctor's help.It was about 7 to 800.00 dollars a month for what I took and my Requip was about $900.00 a month along with some others I take that cost a lot.
I am to this day hurting money wise and I had no choice but to cut back on some meds at the time. So now I get through the year with the insurance I have now so far anyway but but like always I have to take what they say and they could care less about the side effects or any thing the Doctor has to say .
They the insurance company tell you and the Doctor what is best for you and could care less what you really need that works.
I noticed, for 2010 my company is changing some of my meds to higher Tiers which is going to raise all my copays which is going to hurt.
Something is going to have to change with these insurance company's telling what is best for all of us just so they can answer to all of there share holders and keep there huge salary's.
I don't know the answer to you or all of our problem but I wish you well my friend and hope something is worked out for you.
Have a good day! poppyjohn! "
