" The debate is still on if Azilect slows progression or not. Plus it's expensive. Without my wife's prescription coverage it would cost me $485.10/month plus dispensing fee. In my opinion it's so new how can they know? "

" I've been on Azilect for about 8 months now, Some research has demonstrated it slows progression if taken early on, however these studies need to be repeated by independent investigations before its definitive.

I'm not sure whats its doing for me besides eating a big hole in my medical plan's drug insurance. As Phil has said its a costly med, over 10 dollars a pop...I believe the patent expires in a couple of years so it will be cheaper then.

This drug has many contra-indications with other meds, so caution is advised when taking other meds, and even over the counter stuff.

" I am currently taking Azilect as recommended by my neurologist. The doctor seemed to think it slow down the progression. When I went to the Hope Conference in Seattle, one of the speakers mentioned that it seemed to slow down the progression. It might be to soon to tell.
I feel it is worth a try. It is expensive. I wouldn't be able to afford it without my insurance. "

" Thank you for all of your replies, well lm thinking unless our australian government decides to put it into the public health system, meaning it will cost me aroung $5.30 per prescription

I cant afford it, will wait and see. One great aspect about living in Australia, is we have a very fair health system I(that costs the government dearly)

I will wait patiently

Any other news anyone learns, would be fantastic

I posed a good question , "
