Zopiclone

Hi there. I just joined this group today and I have to say that I love what I've been reading. The first thing that popped into my head was asking for peoples views on taking zopiclone to help with sleep. My doctor prescribed it over a year ago for my PD related sleep disorder. I've recently read that you should only take it for a short period of time. I'd like to sleep drug free. What's your thoughts on Zopiclone & what advice do you have for sleeping?

" I pretty much take it every night for the same reasons as you. Taking a bit of zopiclone every night is the least of my worries considering everything else I'm on. I still need to work for 6 more years (if I can) and need the sleep. The heck with it if I become dependent on them.

My $0.02.

" I.m kinda embarassed. I'm sitting up at 2 AM reading and folowing this thread instead of sleeping, or more precisly, tossing and turning in bed. I've been on several sleep medications, none of them helped and some of them are contraindicated with PD meds. That's why I went to my referencce library and tried to locate some info on this drug ya'll are taking. I can't find it!! In earlier days, about five years ago, I had very good success with bio-feedback. "

" I believe Zopiclone is also known as Imovane, or Lunesta. It really works for me (so far)...for about 5 hours a night. I can manage with that. Without it I would wake up at 1:30 AM or 2:00 AM and that would be pretty much it for the night.

" Hi Phil, 6 years ago I had what my Neuro describes as a Psychotic episode where I was hearing voices that weren't there and hallucinating and not sleeping. It was one of the worst experiences in my life it took 10 weeks out of my life...When I was hospitalised I recall being given Zopiclone to aid with a sleep problem, it helped to aid sleep, but at the time I was taking so many meds that their main concerns were to solve my hearing voices problem & hallucinating. After 4 weeks in a secure unit and many blood samples taking they discovered that it was a combination of Bromocriptine & Propranolol that caused my problems.
I avoid reading at bedtime, and really late nights, try to conserve your energy and do things at a slower rate or do them in stages.

I wish you well.. Dirk !!;O)) "

" philgs along with pd meds i take zolpedium generic for ambien, it works great. I find that monitering and questioning effectiveness and alternatives of perscribed meds is key to helping your neuroligist get you on the best regimine possible. Log your meds, timeing, on and off, response time, and daily symttoms. good luck. "
