" For me:
-Friends are there for you whenever/wherever
-Friends will always tell you the truth, even if you don't want to hear it
-Friends are not afraid to tell you when you are wrong
-Friends show up to the emergency room when your spouse takes you to the hospital
-Friends help you with all of the paperwork, office visits, hearings to get social security and VA benefits

-Friends will help you hide the bodies (saw on a sign in my friend's office) "

" Something I saw.."Friends walk in when the rest of the world walks out.."

Too corny? But, anyway, it does seem that that's the way it is...acquaintances can become friends..sure...but real friends are there by your side no matter what..if only with a phone call, email, letter....it really doesn't take long to see the difference between the two... "

" An acquaintance pretends to be interested
A friend is interested

An acquaintance pretends to care
A friend cares

An acquaintance helps because it's the right thing to do
A friend helps because he/she wants to "

" I saw you are in South East, GA. I am in Jax just over the state line off 95. Maybe we can have coffee near the airport if its not too far for you to drive. Its about 40 minutes for me.

I think aquaintances are surface relationships, 'hi how are you?"

Friendship....it has no expiration date. You can lose touch for 20 yrs and then you pick up where you left off.
Or now at this stage in my life, its so much harder to find. I have 'friends' on the Dystonia boards and for now, its enough. I want my husband to be my best friend. He talks more then me. I also learned I can't expect him to meet all my needs. It would suck the life out of anyone.
Friendships take alot of time, alot of talking and mutual support. I have a friend I have never met. I have met her parents and dated her brother over 25 years ago. Yet, she and I have this connection and when we needed a friend, it was like how iron sharpens iron. I hope to meet her someday. She's back to work, no time for me, but sometimes friendships come and go and I do not doubt if I needed her or her mom, they'd be there.

Be friendly and when you find a friend, a real friend, hang on, work on the friendship and laughter a must!

Deanna "
