" I found mirapex was much superior of the two for me,but made me drowsy so had to quit it or quit driving. I think yiu should try it first tho, and if it makes you drowsy then switch and if it doesn't great. Requip made me very nauseous at start, try to start with small dose and work up. I take 1 tablet of apo-dompeeridone 10mg/domperidone maleate 10mg for nasuea, works great. hope this helps. hava good one...2slow "

" I've taken both Mirapex and Requip at different times. Both provide relief to similiar symptoms as well having similar side effects. The only difference is how you will respond, and the only way to know that is trial and error (I'm sorry to tell you). I've been on one since October, and it has helped my movement as part of the PD drug cocktail I now take.

best,
laura "

" BTW, you should be able to still drive, you just need to find the right mix of drugs that doesn't make you drowsy and yet relieves the stiffness. It's when the stiffness gets too bad or if you have major cognitive issues or drowsiness. "

" Mrs. Schells, I was on both requip and Mirapex at different times and now like Peachbum on Sinamet. In the past 5 months I've had two auto accidents that I think were partly caused by the pd along with neuropathy I've had for years. My Neurologist is going to schedule a driving assesment test for me to see if I should continue to drive. I try to be careful and not drive at times I feel the symptoms worsen, but sometimes the tightness and herky jerky feelings begin to happen when I'm driving. I try to stay several car lengths behind the car in front of me in case my foot hits the gas too hard, but it has been a stuggle at times, hense my two wrecks. To make a short story longer, I suggest you discuss this with your Doctor. I think if you're in stage 1 and even 2 of the disease, you'll be allright to drive, but again, let your feelings while on the meds be your guide (along with the doc).

Best of luck :-) "

" I have been taking the Requip for 6 months and the Azilect for 6 months. I have had no problems when it comes to driving. I just have to make sure that I take my medication at the same every day so I do not get the wear off effect. I take the Azilect at night so it works when I am sleeping. My doctor slowly introducd both medications over a two months period so I could get used to the side effects and eventually they disappeared. Now I drive fine and it is a requirement for my job. Some day PD will effect me more, but until then, I am driving!! Good luck, hope the medications work on you as much as they work on me. "
