I have had PD for several years and at first it didn't bother me at all but now I take med 6 times a day and so long as they work I do pretty well.
Some times a day a dose does not kick in and it is a long 3 hrs to the next dose but then when I do take it all is well. It seems that when I am close to my off time I get really down and depressed. My Dr. said that was because of the PD but it is an awful awful feeling. Soon after taking my meds I can feel it lifting.

" My husband takes Sinemet and doesn't feel it kick in at all. Sometimes he doesn't take his meds on time, especially at night.
I suppose if he didn't take them, he would feel it eventually.
We are going to ask the MDS why he doesn't feel anything but maybe it reacts differently on him. "

" Yes Yes constance..... this same thing has and does happen to me... personally i believe because all these meds deal with the brain it's inevitable that there are mood problems... in my case i take liberties with the meds and try to see if i can make my own schedule for them and end up messing myself up... i have had off and on depression bouts but i believe it's because i don't always take the meds the way i should so maybe when they wear off the imbalance is just too much for me... i tried and antidepressant that just seemed to mess me up more... now he has me on a pill to sleep that isn't your normal sleeping pill it's trazadone... this used to be considered an antidepressant but not really used for depression anymore... well i take it to sleep but i do believe it is helping my depression also... take care ... hugs... paula "
