Swallowing Exercises

Complete each of these exercises 2-3 times a day.



Base of Tongue exercises

Say "guh" as in "gun" forcefully 10 times.

Say "aug" as in "August" forcefully 10 times.

Stick your tongue out, then pull your tongue back in until it reaches the back of your throat.

Tether your tongue between your teeth and swallow (don't let go of your tongue until you finish the swallow).

Gargle and hold the tongue base position for two seconds.

Yawn and hold the tongue in a retracted position for two seconds.



Tongue Press

Press the middle of your tongue up against the roof of your mouth pushing as hard as you can for one second then relax your tongue. Complete 10 times.

Tongue push-ups: Press the middle of your tongue up against the roof of your mouth pushing as hard as you can and hold for 10 seconds. Complete 3 times.



Sucking Exercises

Place ice finger in mouth and suck forcefully 5 to 10 times, then swallow.



Blade of Tongue Exercises

Stick out your tongue as far as you can and push against the tongue blade; hold it for ten seconds.
Push the middle of your tongue against the wood tongue blade and hole for 10 seconds.
Push your tongue inside right cheek and hold for 10 seconds.
Push your tongue inside left cheek and hold for 10 seconds.
Laryngeal Elevation Exercises

Glide from your lowest pitch to your highest pitch on " "WHOOP" and hold your highest note for 3 seconds.



Swallowing Mechanism at in Throat

Start to swallow. When you feel all the muscles in your throat squeeze together, hold tightly. Then relax.



Shaker Swallowing Rehabilitation Exercise

1. Extended Shaker

Lie flat on your back. Now lift only your head about 4 inches without lifting your shoulders and look at your toes. Hold the head-lift for 1 minute, rest for 1 minute. Repeat three times with 1-minute rest periods between the 1-minute extended head lift

2. Repetitive Shaker

Lie flat on your back. Now lift only your head about 4 inches without raising your shoulders and look at your toes. Hold the head like this for one second, then lower your head. Do this 30 times in a row.

Excercise is the key! Excercising what ever that stupid pd disease trys to do to us. We will conquer and win "
