I know this question has come up before and so I decided to do some heavy
research and talk to my new dr about it. I took my son off of
Vyvanse because it made his tics worse. So bad that he was starting to slur and and walk around like he was drunk. He couldn't stand in one spot and not like a hyper child and being bouncy, I mean he would literally fall. So, I weaned him off myself and don't plan to put him on another stimulant. Anyway, to the point. I researched the different brands of
fish oil, and thought why not try it? It won't hurt him because 95% of the western world has a dha/epa deficiancy which is found in cold water fish. Most children with adhd have been found to have a significantly lower level of dha and epa than the average child. I chose to buy the Carlson brand of
fish oil, it is a bit more expensive. $12 for 50 pills however if you compare brands you will see it has a much higher dosage than store brands and have a much less chance of "fish burps." Now, it may not work for everyone but I was willing to try to keep my son off of pres. meds. However he has been on it for about 4 weeks now and the difference is astounding. He doesn't have the meltdowns he used to and is doing better in
school. He doesn't have the
sleep issues that many stimulants can cause. Keep in mind that the pills are pretty large so if you decide to try this and you have smaller children they do make a liquid that is also flavored. My sister takes that and she said it isn't bad at all, plus you can mix it with juice. I

I just bought this stuff called "Children's DHA" it is made by "Nordic Naturals". It is a liquid form so I am hoping it is easier to give to Luke. I haven't tried it on him yet but I am hopeful. He is taking this herbal medication called "Neu-beCalme'd" and I am hoping that works as well. I will keep everyone updated because if it does work it may work for someone else as well!
