Sitting here crying

I am a grown man sitting here crying while i read these post. The truth is most of everything i read is about my son. I am having a really bad week/weeks with him and i am like i said somewhere else at a breaking point thus the tears i think. I am emotionally tired i am physically drained and don't really know where to turn, that is why i found this group. It seems like everything i tell him not to do he does exactly the opposite. Just an example not a major problem but i had stopped the car i was standing outside of the car on the phone and i told him to get in the car and sit down so what does he do ......he gets out of the car and stands up EXACTLY the opposite. There are much worse cases of that behavior and i will catch up and tell more stories but right now i need someone to help me through this rough patch and talk me through some solutions. He is on 10 mg of focalin three times a day i have him active playing football and i have recently enrolled him in Imagine Schools hoping he will get more one on one attention from the teachers. It seems tha every step we take forward he walks back 4 steps it is very frustrating. I know he has trouble sleeping and he takes a sleep aid but he still gets up in the night and takes food back to his room and hides it then weeks later we find it ..........i understand he gets hungry at night and i tell him to sit at the table and eat but it is like he wants me to be mad at him WHAT DO I DO!!!!

" I have to agree with cameronsmom. It does sound an awful lot like Oppositional Defiant Disorder. I have a 14 year old daughter that was diagnosed at 8 with ADHD and the meds she's on work well but the ODD reared up, and we've gotten her into cognitive behavior therapy with therapist that specializes in ADHD in girls and that has worked wonders to improve the behaviors that you describe in your son. " I can so relate to you.. My youngest drives me nuts.. Anything I ask her to do she does the opposite.. Every task leads to a full scale melt down... I sometimes want to run away from home... I am currently awaiting word on her final diagnosis as it seems that she is suffering from ADHD and perhaps a learning disability.. We couldn't do meds because she was too young but now that she has just turned 6 I am anxiously awaiting word from her Dr.... I don't drink or smoke but she sure is driving me to with her off the wall antics.. I can't understand her at all.. I want to be closer to her as I am with my eldest but it seems that this issue makes it so difficult.. Half the time I think I am a terrible Mom.. All of my friends have an opinion on whether or not she should get meds but my response is a simple one.. Do you deny a diabetic insulin? Then surely you can see my point with this.. I have to make sure that she has the best life possible.. I am not in denial.. If this can help her why not??? Hang in there with you son.. I think you are a great Dad!!! "
