Does anyone have any experience with using Tenex/ guanfacine (sorry if spelled wrong) for their children with ADHD? Either alone or in combo with other meds.
Would like to hear experiences.
Would also like to hear experiences WRT Clonidine and ADHD treatment.

" My 3 girls have been on Tenex for nearly 5 years now, and it's been just fine. It's mainly used to extend the effects of the ADHD meds. They take their Adderall in the AM (around 7), then they take the Tenex when they get home from school (around 3pm). Before they were on the Tenex, it was a fight to get them in bed at 11pm. Since being on Tenex, they volunteer for bed before 9pm! I will say this, too...if there's something going on (holiday, etc), they are capable of staying up later than 9pm, if they need to. It doesn't "knock them out" at all. It just makes bedtime, in a normal environment, easier. Hope that helps you some! "

" My 6 year old boy started taking this on Friday. I think I said Wednesday somewhere else on here, anyway, I digress...

He was sluggish all day Saturday and then woke up in the night screaming, saying he had a headache. I asked him if it was bothering him all day, he said yes. But the thing is I never know when to believe him, not that he lies, but he doesn't understand a lot of what is said to him and will say yes quite frequently to anything you ask him. He complained again of a headache on Sunday, but I wasn't sure if he was remembering how he felt on Saturday. I also thought it might have been allergies as I had a headache 2 mornings in a row last week.

I do find it EXTREMELY interesting that for the past couple of nights he has requested to go to bed at 8:00, which is his normal bed time even when he fights me, and on weekends, yes, I confess, I am so burnt out by the time 8:00 rolls around even on the weekends, I stick him in the bed! I haven't noticed a reduction in his impulse to bite, hit or pinch, but I hope that will follow soon. He not only does it at home but at school and day care also, which is a big problem as you can imagine.

Sorry to be taking up all this space so soon! I am excited to have found this place and I have enjoyed reading others situations which seem to be a lot like mine.
xxoo "
