Her teacher is making it worse too!She is really making me mad, first of kaitlyn came home one day off the bus with a candy bag.knowing from the begining of school I've told her several times she couldn't have that stuff cause it really makes her hipared!and for some reseaon she get's very agressive toward everyone around her.I went up to the school and confronted the teacher about this sitution and of course she wasn't their she clam's but my daughter say's she was (Hmmm) then she bring's up that their is gonna be a birthday party soon can she have cupcake's if she scrape's off the frosting.I said "NO,even if you do that it still has sugar in it!"they still have the halloween party too UGH!!!! I think I'm just gonna call her in that day sick.but my question is what about home for her, does anyone have any Idea's to celebrate Halloween for her so she doesn't feel left out?plz help?

Hi! I have the same problem with my son. He is not allowed any high fructose corn syrup or dyes. If there is a party at school the teacher tells me ahead of time and I make sure he has his own treat. As a teacher myself, your daughters teacher doesn't have a clue! Did she ever hear of allergies? What if she couldn't have peanut butter, would she give it to her? I would talk to the principal, that is terrible. As for TandT my son will go but he knows he won't be able to eat the candy. I will be buying him organic candy and snacks that he can have.Hope this helps. Good luck!

It’s really unfortunate that Halloween is synonymous to candy, but there are a number of ADHD-friendly ways to celebrate Halloween. You can stay in and read Halloween-themed books together, or watch the Halloween specials on TV. Keep the Halloween spirit alive and give your daughter some sweet yet healthy treats by giving her organic, natural candy. Your local organic grocery should carry candies that are gluten-free, allergen-free, kosher, vegan, and free from artificial additives. Most of the time, it’s the artificial food colorings, flavors, and preservatives that makes candy bad for kids with ADHD rather than the sugar itself.
If you really can’t discourage your daughter from attending Halloween parties or going trick-or-treating with her friends, there is one way to can prevent her from eating her candy haul. Offer to “buy” all her candy when she comes home from trick-or-treating, and give her a toy or a special present in exchange for all her sweets. This way, she can still enjoy Halloween festivities with her friends while avoiding the detrimental effects of Halloween candy.
