My sons meds

My son has been on Concerta 36mg for about a year now. He did really well at first though I'm not sure it completely helped with attention/focus in school, but it sure did help with impulsivity. Well it seems he has built a tolerance to it. His behavior has taken a few steps backwards and he is not doing well in school even though his teacher and I agree that he knows the information necessary he just isn't doing his work. The last dr appt at the beginning of Sept I brought up my concerns with his dr. She said she is hesitant to up his dose for fear of side effects. She wanted to give him time to adjust to the new school year which I agreed with. Obviously this isn't working and since the appt it has gotten worse and worse. Yesterday I called and scheduled an earlier appt because we just can't do this. I'm curious as to upping his dose. Have others experience really bad side effects? He's really not had any bad side effects with Concerta. Also I have been interested in Strattera, but I don't want to try something new if upping the Concerta would help. Thanks

" We had to increase my son's medication several times over the last year and a half. He is doing well with only positive results. I have not seen negative side effects. As his pediatrician and medicine doctors told me if this is the dose he needs then not to be concerned. He is 7 1/2 and is on 67mg now. "

" my son had the same affects, after a matter of time I had to up his dose of conerta. After doing this though, he started to get side effects, the trrouble sleeping, loss of appatite, and was still wild. I recently switched him to aderall, though I have not seen any changes in behavior. I have now scheduled him with a therapist and phsycologist to try to figure out what to do. My son has been dignosed with ADHD, but unlike most kids with ADHD, he has no problem with school work, he is ahead of his class in the learning aspect, but he is constanly in trouble. he cant sit still, he interups, he has no patients to wait his turn, and when he is mad he acts out violently. He is a caring, senitive kid. I feel like he just can't stop himself. "
