" Hey hun,
I'm sorry to hear your sick. I hope you feel better soon. I don't know if this helps, but for a natural way to handle the attacks just to get through the cold, you could try Bach flowers. You can get them at local health food stores. I think whole foods carries it, i'm not 100 percent positive. But I do know you can order them online worst case. There is also this spray called rescue remedy. It's made of bach flowers. It's only 15 dollars and you spray two spirts on your tongue and there is instant relief if you are going into an attack. I didn't believe it at first, but I've used it, and it works. Hope that helps hun! If you can't find it let me know, and I will find the website for you.
Hugz! Hope you feel better! "

" Thanks for your support Hope. I am using valerian fo anxiety and it works just as good, however I am scared of taking it with my flu meds. I am the biggest hypochondriac when it comes to taking meds. Im afraid to try new meds or remedies (afraid to develop a reaction or what-not).
I will give bachflowers a try though. "

" im sorry you arent feeling well. when im sick i panic alot. just try to remember that being sick mimics alot of the sensations of a panic attack. so its almost as if your body doesnt know the difference. just remember to allow your panic attack. dont fight it. its a scary feeling thats all. a feeling wont hurt you. its just uncomfortable

you will be great. smile "

" Hi there. I can so relate to what you wrote. I too have had terrible anxiety with illness and I also am sensitive to the medications so am cautious.

Hope's suggestion of rescue remedy is good--bach flowers are very beneficial. What virtuous wrote is right on too--it's the body reactions when we're ill that mimic panic feelings and our body reacts. Sometimes being aware of this and then intentionally refocusing on the breath and using breath work to help.

Because of the breathing angle, when I've had flu or colds and my ability to breathe easily gets messed up, I use the Breathe Right nasal strips. They are a godsend for me, opening the passages then I can breathe more calmly. Also, baths really relax me. I've also done drawing in the night (when the panic seemed worse) and just did doodles and line drawings and that calmed me too.

Hang in there--praying for your quick recovery and an end to the panicky feelings. "

" I don't have any answers for you, just wanted to let you know you're not alone. I spend 24/7 trying not to expose myself to anything that could potentially make me ill because the panic is SO much worse when I feel ill. xx "

" I too have a cold at the moment and my anxiety and panic seems to be at its worse as well. I am pretty exhausted as well and this seems to be when my panic also returns. You will feel better when your cold has gone, trust me. I had a cold a few weeks ago and felt so much better when it had passed. Our bodies are just tired when we get sick and apparently exhaustion can be one of triggers of panic. Hang in there "
