It seem like with all the pounding that occurs during an attack, that it will cause some sort of damage to our heart in the long run. Does anyone know?

Read the part labeled "Increased risk of heart attack and stroke"
Also my Dr. stated to me that the long term stress on the heart due to panic attacks and the high blood pressure spikes during them can have negative effects on the heart. "

Well it does make your heart stronger , but also weaker in the long run and enlarged. The heart is a muscle, work it out and its going to grow and tire just like your legs if your kept running everyday. Congestive Heart Failure and also Cardiomyopathy can be a direct result of panic attacks with high heart rates and the blood pressure spikes you have with the attacks At least that what my heart doctor had said to me. You can also go into V-Fib if your heart beats too fast , its where you heart dont beat proficiently anymore its just quivering. Im not meaning to be negative this are the facts and we all have to face them. Good luck and hang in there. "

" Not that I'm aware of I wouldn't think so.I just had an echo, heart ultrasound not to long ago and it looks great after having anxiety for 10 years. However my dad says if I don't get my stress level under control with my anxiety then I will start having blood pressure problems. And then of course you know high blood pressure is not good for the heart.
