This doesn't happen during an attack. It happens randomly. It's depersonalization or derealization where it feels kind of like my arms and legs aren't there but I can feel them if I touch them or like my head is floating, sort of.My body has been under an insane amount of stress and I know that's one of the body and mind's way of protecting itself. But what else causes it and how do you keep it from happening?I've had anxiety/panic for 10 years and never have I experienced something so scary and odd.It started happening 2 months ago.

omg - can't believe harry's response. - he obviously has no idea. ignore him please . yes it does sound like depersonalistion. I have heard of this happening. I have only ever experienced derealisation though. It is caused from too much inward thinking, staring or can be triggered by certain drugs. it is a different state of conciousness. once you relax it will go away. it is your bodies natural coping mechanism. try not to pay it any attention (hard i know) and it will pass quicker.

Yikes Harry could you be any more insenstive?
It is scarry but knowing it is just an anxiety symptom you will be fine. Anytime i feel something strange I check the anxiety symptoms page if I see it there I can relax and know it will pass. I will keep you in my prayers.

hi
i also get panic attacks luckily(knock on wood)i havnt gotten them,or at least the full blown ones,in public or any time other than upon trying to sleep but i do get the derealization or something similar but in my case its very brief way i try to look at it is life is still a very mysterious thing, and many of the things we experiance as pleasant or unpleasant, are niether, untill we categorize it as one or the other and act accordingly,i am not saying this applies to your or my case ,i believe its something physical and real.just the stuff iv been reading lately about the mind body connection, and how two people having a a small blister deliberatly raised on thier skin,if ones thinking negative the other positive the one thinking positive supposedly would heal faster just something i try to remember another thing iv been interested in is the idea stress and anxietys relation to theso called fight or flight response and maybe the "numbness " if thats what it is? has to do with addrenaline being out of whack, and being flooded with low levels,or surges at inappropriate times?im not shure how to prevent this but am currently looking into changes in diet, exorcise and meditation and i know thier arew people who have beat this and completely recovered so i know that is possible i simpathize with you on the scary part these can be extremly scary but they can be made much worse by worrying its taken me a while to realize that and i still forget anyway hope you feel better goodluck
