Does anyone else ever get the feeling they have a lump in their throat from panic? I get a feeling of having a lump in my throat, or a feeling that I cant swallow completely, or that my throat is clogged. Anyone else??

I get this all the time. Sometimes I feel like I have to force myself to swallow. Sometimes I feel like I could swallow over and over again and not dislodge the "lump" in my throat, even though there's nothing there. I feel your pain!!

Yeah I definitely get that feeling when I have a panic attack. Not so much the lump in throat feeling, but definitely the feeling of not being able to swallow, or choking. Dry mouth/throat as well.

Just to share a little something I was told by my dr. when I described that oten it felt like something was stuck in my throat......in addition to panic disorder/ptsd, I also have acid reflux aka GERD, and was told that is also common with GERD patients. I could easily have linked mine to anxiety or panic disorder as when that feelings comes, naturally anxiety and panic attacks follow due to not being able to make that feeling go away at will.

Hi,
Actually, this happens to me when I was nervous and panicky, especially during public speaking. But I was able to overcome it by imagining all my past successes in public speaking as well as preparing well for any speaking engagements that I would have. Regards, atvsamala

It has happened to me and a friend of mine with panic as well. I've discovered that I believe it is just tight muscles from being tense and it will go away. Try not to let it worry you. I know, easier said than done.

Yep me too. I also start coughing all the time. I have heard of nervous coughs before but didn't know much about them. The throat is so frustrating, but the scary thing is the palpitations of the heart, my heart beats so loud and so fast I can't hear anything else. It is truly scaring me.

My throat gets tight and feels harder to swallow. It will get real dry and then I'll feel like there's a lump in the back of my throat. It usually doesn't go away until I've taken something, and had plenty of water to drink.
