Hello!

Just curious. Have anyone tried drink alcohol after acute pancreatitis or with chronic one? I have CP with variable pain levels and i have thought what will happen if i drink just one or two beers? Will it trigger the acute attack immediately? Have anyone played this kind of russian roulette?

" All I can tell you is that my doctor told me absolutlely NO alcohol. Not even a sip of wine at Christmas time. Some one else on the site said they had an attack after using mouthwash with alcohol in it. "

" Hi... don't play russian roulette with this. I agree absolutely no alcohol. I have worked in a area hospital and take care of cancer patients but we have other types of ill patients as well. The GI specialists there tell the pancreatitis patients, NO alcohol. Once the pancreas has damage it just cannot digest the alcohol. One drink can cause a severe flair up. Good luck to you. "

" My doctor actuslly told me if I could tolerate alcohol, then a glass of wine once in a while would be fine. But for me, I can't do it. It hurts me.

If it's that important to you, and your doctor hasn't said no, then you could try it. But is it really worth it in the long run? To me, it's not. I absolutely love red wine and there's so much good in it, but i can't do it any more because it hurts me.

I used to think, so what, I'll do it and hurt and it will be worth it. But I've decided life is too short to live that way. If I can be in less pain because I don't drink a glass of wine, I think I'd rather be that way. Then I can enjoy my grandchildren more! "
