How do you manage social eating? The holiday season is coming up with it's pot-lucks, office parties, etc. I find these things very difficult . Sometimes the smells of all that food is more than I can stand. Then there's all the explaining of why I'm not eating....

" What I've found to be helpful during the holidays is to actually eat some before you go to a function. That way, you are less tempted to eat a lot and hopefully you will only eat those things that you find totally irresistible but not so bad for you.

And as for explaining, if anyone asks, just say you have a chronic disease that prohibits you from overeating. People are really amazed by that and usually you can almost joke about it. Which is sometimes okay for me, since it's hard to find anything funny about our disease! "

" I like the idea of eating before you go to a function however one of my problems is OCD with food and even if I eat, my eyes zoom in on dishes I know I can't have but ate it for years before I got sick. I pray I can survive the holidays and be good. "
