Before & since my ERCP I lost 46 lbs and except for not being adjusted to digesting my foods right I felt pretty good. Now however I am starting to put weight back on which I am totally bummed about. I am eating low fat diet, drinking lots of water and fluids and eating peeled fruit with bananas. What in the heck is happening? Has this happened to someone else?

Sorry to hear about your dog. Your right about sitting. I do that alot to because when I do get up and move around to much or get to stressed I have pain. So, i try to avoid it because I don't want another ERCP yet. I'd drather wait until I have no choice.
Thanks

I actually lost about 70 lbs down from 280 lbs to 210 lbs without being on a diet. That is the effect of pancreatitis. Yes, I did need to loose the weight but that is a hard way to do it. There for a while, I thought I was going to dry up to nothing because I was loosing so much weight week over week.
I have only gained about 10 lbs back. I look a little better with the weight back. I would like to loose about 20 lbs more though to be below 200 lbs. I am 5'11" and I think 220 lbs is always where my body goes to. One thing is that I gain weight when I exercise. They say that when you exercise, your muscles start holding in water as well as get bigger. Muscle mass weighs more than fat as well. Have you started an exercise program?

OMG!! I am so glad that I am not the only one who is actually "gaining weight." When this all first started about a year ago I imediately lost 45lbs. Now I have gained all of that back and then some. I don't understand it because I don't eat hardly! I am just glad that I am not the only one.

If I can throw my two cents worth in on the weigth yo-yo.... I think we all inititally lose weight because we really do lose the desire to eat along with being sick. It takes us a while to adapt to our "new way of living", which means a low fat, often a low protein diet.
Okay so it low fat, low protein, so what does that leave for us to eat? Carbs of course. Fat does NOT put on weight and neither does protein. But guess what really does put weight on a person?? You got it.... The Carbs. That is why the Atkins diet is so popular and why it works. You basicly eliminate carbs from your diet, the pastas, breads, cereals, etc and eat all the bacon, sausage and beef you want. You will lose weight. But can you think what that kind of diet would do to us??? Then there is, as Xmas mentioned, the sedantary factor. We are less able to do what we used to do what we used to do. We are burning a lot less calores. I too lost quite a bit of weigth in the beginning then put some of it back on. It was the same thing with my surgery. Even today I am considered "overweight" at approximately 150, Though I don't consider a size 10 doing too bad. And I call it a cushion for the bad days.... I'm on a low fat, low protein diet. I am up and down like a yo-yo. I would love to get rid of my protruding tummy, but they say not to do sit ups as that could start an attack, so how do I get rid of it? I have been walking my dog, but not that much. I have been on pain pills so much lately that I really don't feel like doing too much. I do go swimming once in awhile. I guess I'm not very committed to any type of excercise right now.

First I'd like to say that I have a lot of love for everyone in this group and pray that everyone is finding relief and comfort knowing that others know what you go through and want to help. Ladybug913 brought up something that I suspected all along, but Inever could find any facts on it. I have suspected that doing situps and crunches inflammed my pancreas. I had stopped doing it but tried some recently and sure enough, I had an attack. Does anyone know where I might find more information on this?

i thought i was the only person with pancreatitis that gained and lost weight! and i feel like i gain weight in the months/weeks following my ercp...probably bc i was eating a little better. then id loose it agagin! and as for exercise...i dont do any crunches and such. i walk when i feel good and i LOVE swimming. as a matter of fact when i got my first attack of pancreatitis at age 9 i was at the beach and i would not get out of the water bc my belly hurt so bad and i didnt kno why but when i was floating in the water it somehow made my belly feel better!! but then obv i went to the hospital and spent the next 9 days there :(
