Mine was diagnosed after an attack that I barely survived...my first.
I started vomiting on a Friday night and it didn't stop. Some 40 hours later, I woke up in an ER and was told I was being transferred to a different hospital. The next day, i underwent several tests. The CP was confirmed by blood tests, ultrasounds and MRIs. I can't remember ever being so sick. The pain was unbelievable. I actually had to be sedated for the ultrasound because it was so painful. My enzyme levels were 12 times normal. I have had 5 attacks since then and it's only been 9 months. It's been awful. The condition is worsening and I'm now facing surgical removal of my pancreas and spleen. Everything I "eat" must be liquid and I get supplemental nutrition through my PICC line. Yeah, it sucks. This isn't something I ever thought I would have to deal with. The diabetes was enough. It's not knows whether that contributed to the CP or if it was the gallstones. it doesn't matter...I have it.
