I can't believe that my sex life has gone down the toilet as being in so much pain with lichen sclerosis is just not what i want now.

I have the medication and the cream is keeping the rashes under control but i am so depressed about the intercourse bit.......if anyone has any feedback or ideas I would appreciate this.

I hope nothing goes wrong with my mind or body if I don't have intercourse or any if any sex isn't present. Please help me in this matter also......as knowledge helps sooths one's soul....and nerves too!

" Patricia,
I have lichen planus and was dx about 4 years ago. I haven't lost my mind yet but it has been hard on me and my marriage. Lichen planus is very similar to lichen sclerosis and the symptoms are about the same. It took over a year for me to find someone who could diagnose it and after being in treatment with her for a year, she moved out of state. I now have a dermatologist who is treating me because I couldn't find an obgyn who knew what it was. There is a lot of information on the web about it but it requires lifestyle changes as well. I am finally able to have sex again, although there is still some pain. I also have fibromyalgia which doesn't help things any. It takes a lot of patience on everybody's part. Learn as much as you can and be proactive in your treatment. You may have to educate your doctors. "

" Well Sharb, I too have Fibro and Lichen sclerosis.
Its a bit of a bugger having both. As for the lichen I havent had a boyfriend since i was diagnosed so I am unsure if sex will aggrivate the condition or not. By what I have read it looks like I have a mild case of lichen s , knock wood it doesnt get any worse.
I do worry about , how do i explain it to a new boyfriend and at what stage should I tell him. "

" I am 25 and was diagnosed with lichen sclerosis after a period of enormous emotional stress when I was about 21. I have tried SO MANY creams, medications, procedures... I have been tested for EVERY possible STD multiple times. I have traveled further than I'd like to meet with doctors that were of little help. I can't even tell you how many medical professionals have seen my vagina. I visited Medical Doctors and specialists at an Infectious Disease clinic, and of course multiple gynecologists. The most help I received was with my dermatologists.

I'd love to connect on here with some people who understand. "
