I just got diagnosis today of ovarian cancer. I have a micro invasion!?!
They are sending me to New Orleans for treatment. My regular GYN said they were going to remove my left side, do an abdominal wash, take out my appendix and biopsy my right ovary and lymph system. I am 28 yo and every MD wants to focus on my age as a basis for what to remove. I have 2 kids and one is disabled. I have celiac and hypermobil joints, my body cannot handle another preg or alot of surgeries. I think I want it all out just to be safe bc we have a hight rate of cancer in our family. does anyone have any info about this? Posted on 10/27/09, 09:10 pm |

HI! You are in our hearts and prayers. I'm so sorry with the news, but there are many advances with ovarian cancer. You have great hope! News Orleans has a great medical community. XOX Love and Hugs! Susan Wales

I think you are very sensible and need to get it across to your doctors that you do not wish to have any more children as a full hysterectomy with both ovaries and the omentum removed are the safest bet with OC.
I am assuming here that you have already been diagnosed, as without a sample of the tumour being tested a diagnosis of OC can not be made accurately. If this hasn't already been done then it could be that they want to do a conservative surgery to establish what this is for sure. Please let us know how you get on.. All the best wishes to you.. Inka

I was just at a presentation about genetics and ovarian cancer. You can have genetic testing probably with your history you should. In any case they said if you are geneticly positive you should have a complete hysterectomy once you have finished your family. Look up BRAC1 and BRAC2 and HNPPC testing. Best wishes, Janet
