Has anyone ever participated in a Clinical Drug Trial for their Cancer?

If so, what was your experience like?

My sister starts chemo today, but has also been accepted in to a study of Bevacizumab and how it might be of benefit to Ovarian Cancer.

" It would depend on what level trial this is . Level one is to see if this treatment is fit for humans. Level 3 or 4 is to see if this treatment is better than what is out there now. Google clinical trial disasters and I don't think your sister would want to participate in any stage 1 unless the Drs. say she is terminal. If that is the case why not. "

" Here's a website of an organization that is a watchdog agency for clinical trials that I highly recommend. There are some awesome doctors on there and you will get good information.

" This will be the third level of the trial. The first two levels have seen a 30% increase in slowing the growth of cancer.

Lynn will be getting the Bevacizumab along with her next chemo round of Carboplatin and Paclitaxel.

Time will tell ..... "

" My sister's drug trial (level 3) began on Thursday.

So far, so good.

A couple of nasty side effects. She will be at risk for possibly developing another type of Cancer. This drug also causes additional sleeplessness. She's not sleeping well as it is so this is a real bummer. "
