My name is Kaila i'm 27 yrs old and went in on Aug 26 of 09 for a minor sugery that ended up being a emergency surgery. Long story short they found a tumor a little bigger then a softball on my right ovary. Luckly they were able to save my ovary but now the tumor is being tested for cancer. I was just curious if anyone has an idea what my chances are that it is indeed cancer? I will know on friday if it is or not, and also if i will be undergoing more things cause my periods are still bad and i'm having lots and lots of cloting while on my period. So if anyone could give me some answers that would be great,. Thanks a bunch

" Hi and welcome to our group, I can certainly understand your fears.

Ovarian Cancer is still a rare disease, so you need to bare that in mind.

I more or less knew I had Ovarian Cancer before I had my op, as my CA125 blood levels were high. Have you had this blood test yet?

I truly hope this is just a benign tumour or cyst and hopefully it wont be too long until you get the results, even though I know, the waiting is dreadful.

Good luck and keep us informed.

" Hi Kaila...I too am going through the exact same thing right now....last week I had severe pain in my right groins...never had this before and was quite worried about it...
I thought my cycle had started 2 days before becuase I had some vaginal bleeding, but then the pain started...I also had an IUD (Mirena) in place
I had an ultrasound done during this time which showed a 6 cm cyst on the right side...and the doc sent me home with pain meds..
I persisted, and had another ultrasound done three days later...the mass was now 10 cm and mostly solid in nature, and suggested a neoplasm...
I am now awaiting for an appointment with my OB-Gyn which is next Tues...
THe waiting is so hard....I keep telling myself that I am young, have none of the risk factors, and that things will be ok...but I am scared out of my mind...
I had the Ca-125 level drawn, but still awaiting the results...
My blood level dropped quite a bit from the first day the pain occured to three days later from 138 to 106....I am not sure the US measurements, these are canadian...
Anyhow...that is my story...I hope we can keep in contact...I am pretty scared! "

" Hi! Just two days ago I saw a gyno and they discovered I have an enlarged uterus and so I had an ultrsound. My gyno told me that I would need surgery ASAP and she thought it was ovarian cancer and that I would need to have everything out. I started asking questions and she said I should be prepared to adopt. (I am 32 and was hoping to have children)

Now that I do my own research it seems that everything I read says you can't tell from an ultrasound that its cancer. So, I'm wondering if there really is still a chance that what she sees is something else. If so, why wouldn't she have just said that was one possibity however, it could be other things? Is the ultrasound so bad that she knows? If not, I'm kind of angry that she just handed me that sentence.

Has anyone else received this kind of diagnosis and did it end up being something else? Also, I've read terrible survival rates and was scared to death until I started reading some stories on here. So, I'm happy to have found this site.

" Whao......I am really surprised you have been told all this so soon, to be honest.

I cant answer for sure re the ultrasound showing ovarian cancer.....I know mine was suspected after a cat scan, which I had immediately after my ultrasound, as they were able to see there was something wrong. I was told that day that I had multiple ovarian cysts that were very suspicious looking.

Please enquire as to your CA125 blood marker....as this, in conjunction with CAT/PET scan would be a much clearer picture. However, until they do surgery they can never be 100% sure.

No matter what it is chick, there is SOMETHING wrong and it needs to be dealt with. Please try not to read everything on the internet unless it is a trusted site.......Cancer Research/Macmillan/or American Cancer Society Internet sites can scare the wits out of you...when it isnt necessary.

When is your next appointment?

Hugs

" The chances are that this is other than cancer.. the vast majority of these things turn out to be benign. OC is extremely rare. So in answer to your question the odds are hugely in your favour and only when the growth is tested can you have the final answer.

I will be hoping loads for you that this turns out to be easy to deal with.. we have every reason to be optimistic a this point.. though I understand how scary this is for you. Whatever the result we are all here for you.. wishing for only the best.. Inka xxx "
