Who can share personal success stories of recurrent ovarian cancer? After one year of being diagnosed stage II and still getting taxol, we learned the cancer has spread in the abdominal cavity. Started on Doxil. After 2 treatments, scan showed disease in lymph nodes in neck, chest and pelvic area. I read the success rates of resistant ovarian CA and they don't look good. Please send me some success stories! Thanks.

Hi
I was diagnosed with stage 3c and a CA125 level of 7500 in 5/08. Currently my level is down to 18. However, I`m being given Avastin/Gemzar, which are the only drugs that have worked for me. My oncologist feels that they can keep the ovca at bay if I continue using these drugs. Lots of love, xxLinda

my mother was in remission for 9 months after chemo was done. She was diagnosed at onset stage 4 ovarian cancer. We just received news that it is back in her abdomen, rectum, and on her liver. I guess I just need some comforting words as this is so hard to endure.

Pamela, I guess they don't call ovarian cancer "deadly" for nothing!
However, that said, I DO know women who have had recurrence, were treated and went into remission again. One woman I know had recurrence after 6 years clean; now she is clean again for almost 2 years. There are stories like this. I also know of some women who have had several recurrences on and off and are alive and kicking. As for me, I finished up first line chemotherapy in April. I am being watched very closely. As of right now, I'm about 5 months in remission. It's lousy; it's frightening; it's tough to go through chemo and NOT beat it (chemo is so hard!). But never, ever give up. Please let us know how you are doing. Hugs, MaryAnn
