Just diagnosed Stage 1C

Hi folks

I joined the group a week or so ago but didnt want to join until I had official diagnosis. Today I got the results. My OC has been caused by Endometriosis, gone bad. I didnt even know I had it! Stage 1C clear cell ovarian cancer, the diagnosis COULD have been a lot worse.

I had a radical hysterectomy (laparoscopy) at the end of May and also have a DVT in my groin, for which I am still being treated, with Warfarin.

I am seeing my Oncologist on Tuesday 23rd and should begin my 6 treatment Chemo a week or so after that. I will also be having genetic testing as my mother died from breast cancer. Apparently genetic links would improve my prognosis even more, not sure how that works but I am sure I will find out!!

I am feeling relatively calm right now....its weird!! I guess my diagnosis has a very good prognosis and I just want to get on with it all now. I have NO doubt I will get scared, frightened and very tearful during my treatment, but for now, Im ok! I am sure I will have questions for you all over the course of the next few weeks.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I hope everyone is feeling ok today.

Cheers!

" You will be fine, I just finished my sixth round of chemo yesterday (OV3C). It went faster then I thought it would and I didn't have any side effects except fatigue the week after. My CA125 is now down to 5.4 I also have uterine cancer, stage1. Don't sweat the small stuff, we are all here for you and know what you are going through. I see you live in Ireland, our daughter loved it there. We live in the Chicago area and her hubby is a Brit who runs an Irish Pub.

Keep smiling,Peggy "

" Hi there--I was diagnosed with Stage 1C as well--had radical emergency hysterectomy and two rounds of chemo. My CA 125's are completely normal, scans all good-- I've been cancer free for three years. Yes, we are fortunate to have the stage we have--you'll be okay. Nice to meet you! love and purrs,
Rhoda & Scottie (my avatar -- my best friend :)) "

" Hi and welcome - I'm stage IIIC, had horrific surgical complications in 11/2007, but am now doing well. This is a wonderful site. If there's an up side to having ovarian cancer, it's that you meet tremendous women who are also fighting it! Best wishes, Janet "

" It is so nice to meet you. I had three surgeries but no chemo. I was staged at 1a and for that I am grateful. I also had the endometrosis that causes me to have surgery in the first place. Hoping you are healing well after your surgery and welcome to the group...We are all in this together......Hugs Beth "

" Thanks So much...again....lol. I really do appreciate it.

I have been out at the shops, I drove there but its less than a mile away, I was fine!

It was great to get out into the fresh air, being stuck in this house for the last 2 weeks was driving me nuts!

Will keep you informed and let you know how I get on tomorrow with the oncologist.

Cheers!
