incisional hernia

I have ovarian cancer. I had surgery on Nov. 19, 2007. I then went through my six cycles of chemo with a IV port and IP port. I did as well as could be expected on the treatment and now in remission. Thank the Lord!

My stomach continued to bulge out and I guess I just thought this was from the surgery. But now I find out I have a hernia in the incision......the doctor doesn't really want to do anything at this time until he sees where I am heading with the cancer.

Has anyone experience anything like this and if so what did they do.

I am thankful for my life and I know all this is minor in compassion, but my clothes don't fit and I feel like I have this huge tire around my waist that is so foreign to me. Any thoughts I would appreciate. I don't think any form of exercise would help. I guess a brace or girdle would help as it gets bigger as the day goes on. Thank you, jenfre

" I can't say I have heard of this type of hernia before.. so don't have any advice or info for you.. I do know that a lot of us here complain of an extended stomach after treatment and wonder how your doctor made this diagnosis. In some cases it's the result of extra wight due to the steroids, but I think that what we all worry about is ascites.. the fluid that builds up around tumours in the abdominal cavity. "
