I have a question about a chemo line.

Hi again everyone. My aunt was diagnosed with stage 1C last week & starts her first round of Carbolitin & Taxil next week.

I was very surprised to hear that the onocologist told her that she did not need a chemo line surgically put in? He said that her veins looked good enough to use.

10 years ago when I went through breast cancer & chemo, they did put in a chemo line & told me that my veins would collapse if they didn't.

Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thanks & God Bless.

" I don't have the answer to your concern but I think either the doctor or a nurse could reassure you. I had carboplatin six years ago without chemo line and it was fine. "

" If the docs say her veins look okay, then they probably are. I had to have a port put in because my veins were so bad, but not everyone needs that. Good luck to you and your aunt. Linda (:) "

" Ditto was linda said, I have veins that are impossible to use so had a port in my chest.
I would think it depends on the size of the veins, etc. "
